About me
As a fellow apartment owner and Executive Committee (EC) Chairperson, I know the feeling of everyone trying to extract profits from Owners Corporations. I’m passionate about teaching EC’s the tricks of navigating this challenging industry and helping them to save thousands.
I’m a longstanding EC member for my apartment building and after many years of effort, I’ve saved our building $60k in annual savings without turning off maintenance or the amenities our community values. Although it was a difficult process to learn how to find these savings, they are now mostly self-sufficient and provide a substantial ongoing benefit to my building.
I’ve also had a broad gamut of experiences while leading our EC, including retendering all my building’s contracts to find the best vendors. I’ve been through the difficult process of successfully terminating a strata management contract early without any additional costs. I’ve also been our Chairperson during our defect project, which included a litigation case and successful settlement with the builder who is currently conducting rectification works.
I also have a background in Finance and Psychology with a degree in both. I’ve worked for many years as a Finance Officer and this experience (combined with being too stubborn to accept the status quo for my building!) has meant I’ve learnt the tricks to effectively identify significant savings for ECs.
I set up ‘The EC Guy’ as a way to share my knowledge with other buildings and help them save thousands of dollars every year. I’ve also designed my service offerings and cost structure in the only way I’d accept if someone made the same offer to my building, especially my ‘no savings, no fee’ guarantee.
